Phnom Penh, A Taste of Cambodia in Tucker

Meredith Ford (AJC Food Critic) convinced me to try this small, unassuming outpost of Asian delights after reading her July 14, 2009 review. Glad I did and I definitely will be back. The restaurant is small but the service is attentive and the food is phenomenal. Lemongrass soup, spiked with fresh, verdant bits of cilantro was a starter. The clear broth was cleansing, not filling as if preparing us for the meal ahead. Next up Cheese Rolls, stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat, deep fried and served with a spicy sweet and sour sauce. On to Baan Chav a Cambodian crepe filled with shrimp, ground chicken and cabbage and served with a peanut lime sauce. The grand finale was Fish Amok, fresh, sweet, flaky talipia flash fried and served in a spicy red curry sauce. After all that eating, I was pleasantly surprised not to feel too full or bloated as I often do from an American meal. Happily satiated, I began to plan my next visit. Beef Stix, tasty marinated beef on wooden skewers served with a papaya salad and Angel Wings, chicken wings stuffed with savory goodness are all on my radar when I return, which will be real soon.
