Lunch at the Downwind (PDK)

The Downwind restaurant, located on the grounds of Peachtree Dekalb Airport is a hidden gem in Atlanta dining. As the only restaurant located at PDK, it generates a lot of traffic from airport employees but it also has quite a following of non-airport folks as well. During a recent lunch, I observed a hodge podge of people with one goal in mind, delicious food accompanied by a spectacular view of the runways.
If you go, try everything, seriously, I haven't had a bad meal here, but make sure you get the blackened fish at some point. Be it trout, salmon or talipia the fish is fresh and delectable with just enough spice and a very slight crunch. I have tried and failed to duplicate their blackening method at home but somehow I can never reach the level of perfection they exhibit everytime.
My hubby loves the Gyros and burgers and the daily specials are always a treat. I mean with food this good, you'll soon forget you're sitting adjacent to a runway at Georgia's second busiest airport.
