Get Your Thalis On

Lunch today was next to Community Q Barbeque, a review I did a few weeks ago.  Bhojanic is an Indian restaurant with an emphasis on tapas and Indian street food.  But the real attraction here is the Thalis which according to Wikipedia: "are a selection of different dishes, usually served in small bowls on a round tray. The round tray is generally made with steel with multiple compartments. In North America, people sometimes use plastic thalis because they are disposable. Typical dishes include rice, dhal, vegetables, chapati, papad, curd (yoghurt), small amounts of chutney or pickle, and a sweet dish to top it off. "  So that explains the metal, prison like tray my meal was served from!  I had Chicken Tikka with an onion dumpling and a garlic seasoned daal.  I liked the Chicken Tikka because the sauce was thick, spicy and not as creamy as some I've had.  The daal was a nice addition and the onion dumpling was divine. The pickled beans, flat bread and riata where a bonus.   The idea of a combination platter is ever so appealing and merits a trip back soon.  The Thalis is based on whatever the chef fancies and changes daily.  I am also eager to try the Chicken 65 which is a non-fried version chock full of spices and lots of heat.  For me, this little corridor on Clairmont and North Decatur Roads is becoming a treasure trove of culinary delights.  I can't wait to uncover the next jewel.
