Pho Dai Loi

4061 Jonesboro Road, Forest Park, GA, This venerable secondary outpost of Vietnamese cuisine (primary location on Buford Hwy), is a must visit for all of us folks south of the airport . The crowded parking lot is the first indication that the food here rocks. Inside I was promptly greeted and seated. A server breezed over to take my drink order while I studied the comprehensive menu. I was tempted by the Pho, but decided on the Bun made with grilled shrimp and pork. I was not disappointed. My meal arrived in a large bowl, filled with fresh lettuce, cilantro, Thai basil, cellophane noodles, grilled shrimp, grilled pork that was reminiscent of good barbeque, an egg roll, shredded carrots, radishes and cucumber with fish sauce on the side. The flavors melded perfectly! A symphony in a bowl! As I ate, I also coveted the food of my fellow diners surrounding me. A steaming bowl of Pho with long ivory colored noodles, nestled in a lemongrass broth, a huge plate of rice, and glasses and glasses of bubble tea. The clientele ran the gamut from young Vietnamese families to 2 teenage girls dressed in goth attire to retirees and yuppies from midtown. Soon, my empty bowl reminded me of the errands I still had to do. So I settled my bill and added Pho Dai Loi to my list of "must visit again".
