Being Social At the Social House

So, a few friends and I decided to try out the Social House restaurant located on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta for a end of the week chit chat fest and brunch. I was surprised how small the restaurant is with the ability to maybe sit 40 people and in such confined quarters the noise level soon rose to the point it was better to chew than chat. But the food was a delight. I had a hearty bowl of stone ground cheese grits, topped with shrimp, red and green peppers, andouille sausage and vidalia onions, surrounded by a bourbon butter pan sauce. A dash of Tabasco and I was good to go. The grits were very creamy and not overwhelmed by cheese, the shrimp were plump and the sausage gave this dish an edgy yet not over the top bite. My companions' dishes of apple pecan pancakes and a delectable spinach, mushroom, bacon and feta omelet were equally good and made me want to sample other menu offerings like the salmon hash and the eggs benedict. Intimate and quirky, this breakfast/brunch spot (open only until late afternoon) is a place to try breakfast many different ways and even if breakfast isn't your thing they have a bunch of tasty sandwiches and salads to satisfy most anyone.
